When parsing a specially crafted H.265 bitstream containing a Screen Content Coding (SCC) extension with certain palette predictor initializer settings, an integer underflow in the upper-bound computation allows the parser to accept an out-of-range value for the number of palette predictor entries. This causes the parser to write beyond the end of a fixed-size array, resulting in memory corruption and an application crash. Successful exploitation requires an attacker to provide a malformed H.265 media file to a vulnerable application, and is limited to a denial-of-service impact.","score":6.5,"severity":"medium","published":"2026-10-30T18:51:08.851Z","modified":"2026-10-30T18:51:08.851Z","withdrawn":false,"knownExploited":false,"affected":[],"products":[{"vendor":"Red Hat","name":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10","platforms":[],"versions":[],"defaultStatus":"affected","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:10"],"source":"redhat","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"},{"vendor":"Red Hat","name":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7","platforms":[],"versions":[],"defaultStatus":"unaffected","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:7"],"source":"redhat","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"},{"vendor":"Red Hat","name":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8","platforms":[],"versions":[],"defaultStatus":"unaffected","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:8"],"source":"redhat","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"},{"vendor":"Red Hat","name":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9","platforms":[],"versions":[],"defaultStatus":"affected","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:9"],"source":"redhat","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"}],"remediation":[{"text":"No mitigation is currently available that meets Red Hat Product Security's standards for usability, deployment, applicability, or stability.","source":"redhat","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"}],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-119727","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2564118","https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/merge_requests/10902.patch","https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/security/sa-2026-0012.html"],"sources":[{"name":"CVE","id":"CVE-2026-119727","modified":"2026-10-30T18:51:08.851Z","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-119727"}],"assessments":[{"source":"redhat","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5}],"sourceAffected":[],"observedAt":"2026-10-30T21:44:52.403Z","kev":{"status":"not-listed","checkedAt":"2026-10-31T14:05:32.453Z"},"coverage":[{"source":"NVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"GHSA","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EUVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EPSS","status":"not-checked"}],"evidence":[],"aiSummary":{"text":"A flaw in GStreamer's gst-plugins-bad H.265 video parser causes memory corruption and an application crash when parsing a specially crafted H.265 bitstream.
