Prior to version 1.1.5, getSectorSize() in USB Test/src/driveinfo.cpp trusts DISK_GEOMETRY.BytesPerSector returned by IOCTL_DISK_GET_DRIVE_GEOMETRY without checking whether the call succeeded or enforcing size bounds. USB Test/src/drivetest.cpp uses the value for division and to size a heap buffer before memcpy(buffer.data(), &sector, 8), so a physically connected malicious USB storage device can report a value below eight bytes and cause repeated out-of-bounds writes, or report zero and cause a divide-by-zero denial of service when a user starts a drive test. The heap corruption can crash the elevated application and may permit arbitrary code execution. This issue is fixed in version 1.1.5.","score":7,"severity":"high","published":"2026-10-28T15:42:11.023Z","modified":"2026-10-29T18:37:18.070Z","withdrawn":false,"knownExploited":false,"affected":[],"products":[{"vendor":"n-romanovich","name":"usb-test","platforms":[],"versions":[{"version":"< 1.1.5","status":"affected"}],"cpes":[],"source":"GitHub_M","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-116776"}],"remediation":[],"references":["https://github.com/n-romanovich/usb-test/security/advisories/GHSA-cfrv-c9q2-7cr3","https://github.com/n-romanovich/usb-test/commit/5b6caac844461024520b02337d3a541fbe128f89","https://github.com/n-romanovich/usb-test/releases/tag/release-v1.1.5"],"sources":[{"name":"CVE","id":"CVE-2026-116776","modified":"2026-10-29T18:37:18.070Z","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-116776"}],"assessments":[{"source":"GitHub_M","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:P/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:H/SA:H","score":7}],"sourceAffected":[],"observedAt":"2026-10-29T18:54:07.980Z","kev":{"status":"not-listed","checkedAt":"2026-10-31T15:20:33.119Z"},"coverage":[{"source":"NVD","status":"no-result","checkedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:35.188Z","attemptedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:35.188Z"},{"source":"GHSA","status":"no-result","checkedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:34.011Z","attemptedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:34.011Z"},{"source":"EUVD","status":"available","checkedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:32.594Z","attemptedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:32.594Z"},{"source":"EPSS","status":"no-result","checkedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:33.478Z","attemptedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:33.478Z"}],"evidence":[{"source":"ENISA EUVD","id":"EUVD-2026-112149","url":"https://euvd.enisa.europa.eu/vulnerability/EUVD-2026-112149","modified":"Oct 28, 2026, 3:42:11 PM","score":7,"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:P/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:H/SA:H","checkedAt":"2026-10-28T16:00:32.594Z"}],"aiSummary":{"text":"USB Test, a Windows CLI utility, has a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in versions prior to 1.1.5.
