A database whose name is such a string, which any role with CREATEDB can create, therefore redirected the psql process pgAdmin starts for the refresh to a host and port of the creator's choosing, and the connecting user's saved server password was presented to that endpoint. It also let the pgAdmin host be made to open connections to arbitrary addresses.\n\nThe same weakness was fixed for Backup, Restore, Maintenance and Import/Export Data in earlier releases (CVE-2026-86862); the materialized view refresh was the remaining caller. The fix routes the name through the same database_conninfo() helper, so libpq treats it strictly as a database name.\n\nThis issue affects pgAdmin 4: before 9.19.","score":7.1,"severity":"high","published":"2026-10-30T19:55:20.208Z","modified":"2026-10-30T19:55:20.208Z","withdrawn":false,"knownExploited":false,"affected":[],"products":[{"vendor":"pgadmin.org","name":"pgAdmin 4","platforms":[],"versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThan":"9.19","versionType":"custom"}],"defaultStatus":"unaffected","cpes":[],"source":"PostgreSQL","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-116252"}],"remediation":[],"references":["https://github.com/pgadmin-org/pgadmin4/issues/10645","https://github.com/pgadmin-org/pgadmin4/commit/a1a43e8c28cf10cec73df0c476905562d19af483"],"sources":[{"name":"CVE","id":"CVE-2026-116252","modified":"2026-10-30T19:55:20.208Z","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-116252"}],"assessments":[{"source":"PostgreSQL","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},{"source":"PostgreSQL","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.1}],"sourceAffected":[],"observedAt":"2026-10-30T20:24:51.424Z","kev":{"status":"not-listed","checkedAt":"2026-10-31T09:10:30.844Z"},"coverage":[{"source":"NVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"GHSA","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EUVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EPSS","status":"not-checked"}],"evidence":[],"aiSummary":{"text":"pgAdmin 4 versions before 9.19 are affected by a vulnerability where a crafted database name can redirect the connection to a chosen host and port, potentially exposing saved server passwords.
