When processing the initial 4-byte length field of an incoming TCP connection, an integer overflow in `MessageBuffer::computeRequiredCapacity()` causes the receiving compilation worker thread to enter an infinite loop consuming ~100% CPU. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by opening a small number of crafted TCP connections to exhaust the entire worker thread pool, silently halting compilation services for all connected client JVMs.","score":8.7,"severity":"high","published":"2026-10-21T07:57:16.912Z","modified":"2026-10-26T17:57:35.098Z","withdrawn":false,"knownExploited":false,"affected":[],"products":[{"vendor":"Eclipse Foundation","name":"Eclipse OpenJ9","platforms":[],"versions":[{"version":"0.8.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"0.63","versionType":"semver"}],"defaultStatus":"unaffected","cpes":[],"source":"eclipse","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-111074"}],"remediation":[],"references":["https://github.com/eclipse-openj9/openj9/pull/25008","https://gitlab.eclipse.org/security/vulnerability-reports/-/work_items/940","https://gitlab.eclipse.org/security/cve-assignment/-/work_items/422"],"sources":[{"name":"CVE","id":"CVE-2026-111074","modified":"2026-10-26T17:57:35.098Z","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-111074"}],"assessments":[{"source":"eclipse","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7}],"sourceAffected":[],"observedAt":"2026-10-29T14:29:44.175Z","kev":{"status":"not-listed","checkedAt":"2026-10-31T08:55:34.575Z"},"coverage":[{"source":"NVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"GHSA","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EUVD","status":"not-checked"},{"source":"EPSS","status":"not-checked"}],"evidence":[],"aiSummary":{"text":"Eclipse OpenJ9 versions prior to 0.63.0 are vulnerable to a pre-authentication remote denial of service via an integer overflow in MessageBuffer::computeRequiredCapacity().
